About Michelle
One of Michelle’s best-loved presents as a child was a parcel filled simply with paper, paints and pencils. Creating words and images has been a passion ever since!
Growing up in the hinterland of the Sunshine Coast , Michelle’s life was surrounded by animals, both wild and tame. She was fascinated by a neighbouring dairy farmer who looked after abandoned or injured sugar gliders and feathertail gliders, returning them to the bush whenever possible. Nature and wildlife have been favourite subjects of Michelle’s art work.
Michelle is an emerging artist who started exhibiting in 2006, receiving an award in her first exhibition. Mainly self-taught in oils, acrylics and pastels, Michelle enjoys realism and the use of light and shadows which contribute to the atmosphere of an art piece.
Married with three children, Michelle is a school teacher, has painted numerous murals in private homes and been involved in two school mural projects, one as Artist-in-Residence. She has illustrated music books, conducted school illustration workshops and has worked as a dance teacher and calligrapher. She also works in ‘Pan Clay’, a fine air-dried clay that can be sculpted into three-dimensional wildlife scenes.
Although a newcomer to the fine arts arena, Michelle has been involved in creative interests in one capacity or another all her life and looks forward to continuing this into the future…
