About Fiona
Painting has become a natural Progression for me, as long as I can remember I have loved animals.
Although the opportunity to paint has not presented itself to me until recently.
After holidaying in Queensland my family and I decided to make the move to the Sunshine Coast leaving behind the cold climate of the Southern Highlands of N.S.W, and in 2001 we found our new home in Ninderry.
In 2002 I completed a Certificate II Visual arts and following that the diploma of visual arts(fine arts)2004, at Cooloola Sunshine Institute of TAFE. These courses finally gave me the direction and inspiration that I needed.
Since moving here I have exhibited in a variety of local Sunshine Coast exhibitions and competitions, as well as co-coordinating some group art shows. As a result of that I have been fortunate enough to have sold work and secured a number of commissions.
As a former childcare worker Art played a major part in my programme. Drawing on these skills I have been able to plan and implement a variety of community children’s workshops that have been both fun and enlightening.
In 2004 I joined the Queensland Wildlife Artists society as well as holding memberships with artSynC, Arts Council Queensland and Artworkers Alliance.
Over the past year I have held the position of curator at Yandina Historic House Gallery. It has given me the opportunity to meet other Artists and become involved in a variety of community events. All these experiences have helped me to grow as an artist and allowed me to gain valuable skills that can only further my artistic career.
To me painting is a passion that evolves and grows with every brushstroke, the love of animals, their unique nature and beauty are what I wish to convey in my work.
