About Belinda
Belinda, a self taught artist, was born in Northern Rhodesia (Zambia) in 1962. Her family immigrated to NZ where she grew up on a diary farm, there; she started caring for orphaned animals at a young age. When Belinda married she moved to Perth, Western Australia. In 1996 Belinda, her husband and 4 children moved to a small acreage in Peachester, Queensland. She joined WILVOS, a local wildlife group and takes into care many injured and orphaned birds and mammals, and came to love and appreciate Australian native fauna.
Belinda has always had a love of drawing and with the study and care of Aussie animals is has given her much inspiration, and lead to a natural progression to painting. Belinda works in gouache, oil and acrylic.
Since 1999 Belinda has been an exhibiting member of the Queensland Wildlife Artist Society, and in 2003 became a member of Nature in The Raw. Last year Belinda was selected to represent Australia, to attend the International Inaugural Wildlife Artist Conference which was held in the United Kingdom.
